Allyson Scrutchens is a trailblazer for economic development and empowering others by providing access to resources and opportunities. Growing up on the south side of Chicago in the Roseland community, the need and dedication to making a difference in society became extremely pertinent. She received a Masters of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Illinois at Chicago and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW) from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Having previously consulted for Chicago Jobs Council and interned for the Illinois Department of Corrections Southern Illinois Adult Transition Center, she possesses specialties in public policy, program planning and communications.
While previously employed by South Shore Chamber, Inc., she successful implemented and coordinated the South Shore Summer Festival, South Shore Art Festival, “Tis the Season” South Shore Winter Wonderland and several Shop South Shore initiatives. These events and initiatives were all created with the goal of generating positive foot traffic to the South Shore area through empowering the local businesses and providing them with access to opportunities that will market their business. Workforce and educational experiences have helped her develop extensive knowledge in policy, urban planning, event planning, branding, marketing, public and non-profit management.
Allyson recently served as Campaign Manager for 6th Ward Alderman Roderick T. Sawyer’s 2015 Re-Election Campaign and currently does Fundraising for State Representative Marcus C. Evans, Jr.
While currently in high pursuit of providing economic development to all she also serves on the Board of two non-profit organizations; Compass to Care and Guide Right Organization. She also volunteers frequently with many local non-profits and government entities. Allyson is whole-heartedly passionate about assisting others and gaining knowledge about resources with the goal of providing opportunities that will enrich countless individuals and minority communities.
